How Drivers Provide SMS Consent
Drivers provide their mobile telephone numbers to their trucking company's dispatcher during onboarding.
Before enrolling a driver in Novelity SMS notifications, the dispatcher obtains the driver's explicit consent, either verbally or through a driver-completed onboarding consent form.
For verbal enrollment, dispatchers use the following consent script.
Verbal Consent Script
Novelity Dispatcher:
“As part of your trucking company's dispatch operations, Novelity can send you text messages regarding dispatch instructions, load assignments, scheduling changes, terminal updates, safety notifications, and weather advisories.
Message frequency varies depending on dispatch activity. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile service plan.
You can request help at any time by replying HELP to a Novelity text message or unsubscribe by replying STOP.
Novelity's Terms of Service are available at https://novelity.com/terms#sms and its Privacy Policy is available at https://novelity.com/privacy-policy#sms.
Do you expressly agree to receive these operational SMS messages from Novelity at the mobile phone number you provided? Please answer YES or NO.”
Driver:
“Yes, I agree.”
Novelity Dispatcher:
“Thank you. Your consent has been recorded. You will receive a confirmation text message from Novelity. Please reply YES to that message to complete your enrollment. You will not receive regular dispatch or safety messages until you confirm.”
If the driver answers NO, the dispatcher does not enroll the driver or initiate the SMS invitation.
SMS Enrollment and Confirmation
After the driver provides explicit consent, the dispatcher records the agreement in Novelity and selects “Send Invite.”
Step 1 — Enrollment Invitation
Novelity sends:
“Novelity: Reply YES to confirm enrollment in dispatch and safety text alerts. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Terms: https://novelity.com/terms#sms Privacy: https://novelity.com/privacy-policy#sms”
Step 2 — Driver Confirms
Driver replies:
YES
Step 3 — Enrollment Confirmation
Novelity sends:
“Novelity: You're subscribed to dispatch and safety text alerts. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out.”
Enrollment is completed only after the driver replies YES to the SMS invitation. Until confirmation is received, no regular operational SMS messages are sent.
Consent Recordkeeping
Novelity records consent information in its system, including:
These records help trucking companies document driver consent and manage SMS subscriptions.
Opt-Out Instructions
Drivers may unsubscribe from Novelity SMS communications at any time by replying STOP.
Novelity's opt-out confirmation:
“Novelity: You're unsubscribed and will get no more texts. Reply START to resubscribe.”
After opting out, the driver will no longer receive messages through the opted-out Novelity SMS program unless they subsequently opt back in.
Drivers may reply START to request re-enrollment, subject to applicable consent requirements.
Help and Support
Drivers can reply HELP to request support information.
Novelity's help response:
“Novelity: dispatch texts from Novelity Inc. Email support@novelity.com for help. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”
